Antique Floral Beaded Reticule with Chain Fringe, c.1900

A delicate antique reticule intricately worked in cream, black and muted metallic glass beads.

The rounded body centres on a circular black beaded motif, surrounded by a finely worked floral border. An engraved metal frame and chain handle sit above a particularly beautiful looped beaded fringe, which gives the piece movement and an almost jewellery-like quality.

An unusually graphic example, balancing elaborate Edwardian-era handwork with a remarkably modern monochrome palette.
