Antique Emerald Glass Beaded Reticule with Silver-Tone Frame, c.1900
Antique Emerald Glass Beaded Reticule with Silver-Tone Frame, c.1900
A finely worked antique reticule constructed from thousands of emerald-green glass beads.
The body is formed in radiating rows of green beadwork interspersed with a pale contrasting thread, creating a striking fan-like construction. The bag is finished with an ornate engraved silver-tone metal frame and original clasp.
Its combination of saturated colour, intricate handwork and decorative metalwork is characteristic of the increasingly elaborate evening bags produced around the turn of the 20th century.
