Edwardian Painted Silk Fan
An Edwardian painted silk fan with botanical decoration and an original silk tassel. The palette is pale and softened, with the pattern carried lightly across the pleated surface.
The silk leaf is hand folded and mounted to shaped guards, with painted floral detail sitting across the ribs. The effect is delicate, open and intentionally light.
A lighter counterpoint to the darker Victorian fans, reflecting the softer decorative language of the Edwardian period.
Good antique condition with gentle wear and age-related discolouration to the silk.
Painted silk; carved guards; silk tassel; Europe; circa 1905.
