Edwardian Tortoiseshell Clothes Brush

An Edwardian clothes brush in polished tortoiseshell with natural bristles and an applied silver monogram. Its long, restrained form allows the material to remain the focus.

Tortoiseshell was valued for its depth, translucency and natural variation. The shell was cut, shaped and hand polished before being fitted with densely set natural bristles.

A refined dressing table object from the Edwardian period, intended for daily use but now read as a decorative object in its own right.

Very good antique condition with gentle surface wear consistent with age.
